Latest in Technology

Each examining room has a flat screen monitor for the patient, which provides multiple sources of media including cable television, Image projections for patient education, and hooks directly up to our intra-oral camera's which can be used to show the patient anything we may find during a dental exam.

We strive to keep abreast of the newest innovations in dental technology in order to provide you with the safest and most effective treatment options. With this in mind, we are pleased to offer the Orthophos-XG 3D cone beam scanner from Sirona.

Cone beam computed tomography is also referred to as a CBCT Scan. The CBCT scanner rotates around the patient’s head, obtaining up to nearly 600 distinct images to provide sufficient detailed data of a specific area in a patient’s mouth, jaw, neck, ears, nose and throat. CBCT has become increasingly important in the treatment planning and diagnosis of endodontics, orthodontics but most importantly for dental implants.

The health and safety of our patients is our highest priority, which is why we utilize the Orthophos-XG scanner. Unlike traditional imaging equipment, the Orthophos-XG scanner emits the lowest level of radiation while providing a superior image. We are delighted to offer our patients this exceptionally reliable imaging technology with an unprecedented safety rating.

So much more than a simple x-ray, 3D technology takes dental imaging to the next level. With the clear view of facial nerves and bone structure provided by 3D imaging, we can customize your procedures to protect your delicate nerve endings, thus minimizing pain and speeding healing. The Orthophos-XG can even reveal sinus issues and any subsequent anomalies.

What are the risks?

CBCT scans are low dose examinations and give an x-ray dose to the patient that is considerably less than a medical CT scan. CBCT scan of the whole jaw would be comparable to approximately 12-30 days of normal background radiation. As with any x-ray examination, please inform the radiographer if you might be pregnant.

Cone Beam CT systems offer many benefits to patients aside from being useful in planning and diagnosing complex cases. Some benefits of this type of x-ray include:

    -Reduced exposure to scatter radiation

-A single scan produces sufficient data to detail a wide variety of views and angles

-Provide more information than conventional dental x-rays, allowing for more precise and accurate treatment planning

-Cone Bean CT scanning is painless, non-invasive and highly accurate

-Ability to capture both bone and soft tissues in a single scan

Cone Beam CT scanning, while a relatively new technology to dentistry, has already transformed the way dental professionals gather information, diagnose and plan treatments. The transformation from interpreting two-dimensional information to diagnosing from 3D imaging is a quantum leap … and one that has forever altered the way we practice dentistry.

CEREC (one appointment crowns)

Rainbow Falls Dental

In standard dentistry, the fabrication of a crown entails multiple appointments. Thanks to the innovative method of CEREC, your crown can be fabricated in the office chairside in one appointment!

There is no need for temporary crowns with Cerec, we do not need to take a mold/impression, we now just need to scan the tooth, and have our CEREC machine fabricate your crown.

CEREC uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer aided manufacturing) technology to make a digital impression of the patient’s mouth, design and manufacture the restoration with the aid of a computer. The technology allows digitally-captured, computer-designed custom porcelain inlays, onlays and crowns to be made with ease and precision all in one visit.

CEREC is a one-stop solution to restoring your teeth back to their desired state. This technology has been proven by hundreds of clinical studies and has been chosen as a preferred solution by dentists for over 20 years now. Millions of patients worldwide now enjoy beautifully restored teeth thanks to CEREC technology.

Rainbow Falls Dental

Another advantage of CEREC dentistry is that it preserves as much healthy tooth enamel as possible. This advanced technology is able to capture highly accurate and detailed images of the affected area in order to create a crown, veneer, bridge or onlay that closely matches your natural tooth structure. With the use of CEREC technology we are able to offer our patients a strong, reliable, long-term restorative solution that are both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.
